Mug Design

I have recently started doing a PGCE in Design & Technology and this week was my first full week in University. Over the past two days we have been looking at design projects that we can do with Key Stage 3 children. The project we had today was to come up with a design to go on a mug. I decided to do a little bird :)

    Is it a transfer or painted on? Was the mug re-fired?

    It was done using a cam machine and sticky plastic. We drew it on 2D design then the machine cut it out.

    We use that method of creating decals for our aircraft...it's a small world.

    I take it that these are purely for show then? If they needed washing, the stickers would come off?

    Nope apparently they can be washed by hand. The stuff used is the same thing used to make signs etc.
